I teach classical guitar, jazz guitar, Theorbo, and composition at Dusty Strings in Seattle and out of my studio in Mukilteo, Washington. I prioritize musicality and a personal connection to music. I teach classical guitar using the Kritzer Method, which was a method developed in collaboration with a hand surgeon to encourage ergonomic techniques. I believe this method best supports a sustainable and effective approach to achieving speed and mastery on both the guitar and theorbo. My teaching is informed by scientific research on learning, memory and creativity. I use this research to build healthy practice habits and help students improve quickly. Joy and motivation are a key element of progress; I believe in keeping lessons fun, loose and highly focused on musical connection. I can help students who may not have an instrument but are looking for one. Parents of students are welcome and encouraged to observe lessons. I charge $50 per hour lesson.
